At Ziegler Installations we offer many different antenna placement and mounting techniques. Each Job is Customized depending on specific needs and scenarios, always keeping in mind aesthetics, and future planning. We consult with our clients to design a system that fits their needs and try our best to work within a budget.
Attic mounted antenna systems account for about 50% of our antenna installs. Usually an attic mount will only work out of at least a two story house/ building. The further away from the transmitting tower (Willis Tower for Chicagoland) , the more the signal is weakened, and the need for height is necessary. Within 20 miles give or take, from the tower it is sometimes even possible to receive quality reception out of a single story attic. And as we head further from the tower attics are not always an option. We have installed outdoor antennas up as far as 70 miles from the transmitter. On certain occasions we will combine the signals from two or more antennas in order to pull in stronger signals, or this technique could be used if you were trying to receive signal from multiple towers in different directions.
We provide options for townhouses and condos, that may have association restrictions. Initially we would try to install the antenna in the attic, but perhaps that is not possible, there are antennas that mount similar to satellite dishes and are about the same size. We also encourage associations to contact us about whole building antenna systems.
We provide customers with antennas that are both UHF/VHF capable. High VHF/UHF antennas are needed in the Chicagoland area. Channel 2 signal is the hardest to receive, this is because it is the only channel left on the VHF band. In areas that are more than 20-25 miles from Willis Tower a directional antenna is usually needed. Low VHF band antennas are not necessary for any signal in Chicago.
